SG Foresters: The good, the bad and the ugly. #modmonday
Hey!... And welcome back to another #modmonday! This week featuring my 2006 Subaru Forester XT. I have now been the proud owner of this vehicle for the last three years and it has been an interesting ride to say the least, here is a short story on it's build
-The Forester XT was a dream of mine but not really on my DD list. Months of searching netted me nothing and yet this Blue beast came up in my search. I picked it up for a steal as it came with blown head gaskets but given my auto knowledge it wasn't a big deal to me.
-
Stock year: I drove the Forester for one year and it was a great vehicle. Comfortable, quick, a little noisy on the highway due to it being a box on wheels and bad gaskets. But it was incredibly reliable even at 194k miles.
-
First mod(s): After joining SF.org I soon became aware of @Anderson_design_fabrication and decided lifting (2") the Forester would be a fun project. Thus bringing the need for a new set of wheels and tires to match my new exterior height.
-
Ride: Upgrading the wheels and suspension it still rides very well, maybe just a tad rougher. With the Vf39 upgrade it does ride like a seesaw when speed shifting and I may need to look further into this in the future. Mpgs: With the added heft of the tires, lift and basket mpgs dropped a bit, around 18 town and 21 highway.
-
Other: This vehicle has been the been a big jump in any project cars. It has been a great journey and I have spoke with many great people given it. I was hoping for an 03-05 XT honestly but the 06-08s have really grown on me and I wouldn't want it any other way.
